Learner Profile: Ashton
Ashton wanted to further his skills and enter a new field of work when he discovered Apprenticeships.
As Ashton completed his A-Levels, he began to lose interest in the classroom environment and wanted to do find a more hands-on role rather than going to university as he had originally planned.
Training 2000 was Ashton’s first choice of provider, and he worked with the organisation’s Recruitment Team to discover a sector that he genuinely enjoys and a role that he says keeps him on his feet.
Ashton acknowledges that he started his apprenticeship with a very basic understanding of how an office environment works and how to use different computer programs. Throughout his apprenticeship, Ashton has become confident that he has picked up the necessary skills to function as part of a team and has gained the knowledge to use software used in many businesses.
Topics covered in the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship include:
- Principles of business administration
- Personal and professional development
- Managing performance
- Your organisation
- Communication in a business environment
- Project management
- ICT for business
When looking back on his Apprenticeship journey and considering his future, Ashton says ‘I hope to further my product knowledge and become a more useful asset to Prefix as a company’.
"I would absolutely recommend an Apprenticeship"
— Ashton, Business Administration apprentice
To those who are considering applying for a Business Administration Apprenticeship, Ashton says ‘I would absolutely recommend it, it allows you to learn and further your knowledge in your chosen sector whilst getting invaluable experience in the workplace’.
In July 2024, Ashton achieved a Distinction in all three areas of his Apprenticeship End Point Assessment, which consisted of a knowledge test, a portfolio-based interview, and a project presentation.
