This vacancy is for an Apprentice CNC Machinist based in Leyland.

This rewarding career requires a broad skill set –math, mechanical design, interpreting technical drawings and programs, eye for detail – to properly transform a metal casting into a valuable working machined part.

We have an extensive range of machining services available to suit your needs including CNC and manual milling and turning, surface and universal grinding as well as mechanical fitting, assembly and installation.

We are looking to recruit an Apprentice to join our team.
The training for this role will be delivered in Blackburn on block release so please do bear this in–mind when you apply.

We are predominantly a CNC machine shop but we do also have a couple of manual machines.

The duties really would be to

  1. Safely operate CNC machines, lathes and milling machines.
  2. Offline programming using Fusion 360 software.
  3. Programming (using offline Fusion 360 software) CNC machines, both lathes and milling machines.
  4. Setting of the above machines.
  5. Inspection, both on the shop floor and also using the co–ordinate measuring equipment in the inspection room.
  6. Mechanical fitting, building up of assemblies of both customers designs and also our own Stellar designed equipment.

Those would be the main activities but also inspection using coordinate measuring machines etc. as and when they progress.

Items that they would be manufacturing would predominantly be small batches of components, our core industries that we serve are Nuclear, Motor Industry, Gas and Oil and Subsea to mention just a few.

Materials range from mild steel, alumiium, stainless steels, plastics and of course some of the exotic alloys.

Training to be provided

  • L2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing (Foundation Competence).

  • L2 Diploma in Machining (Foundation Knowledge).

  • L3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competencies) Machining.

  • L3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge).
